A Business Studies graduate, specialising in Personnel Management, Gill started her career in the training function at Ford Motor Company followed by Rootes Motors. She then moved to the City gaining the majority of her corporate experience in the financial services sector as Director of Personnel for International Commodities Clearing House Limited, followed by a spell at Merrill Lynch Europe Ltd.
In 1990 Gill established her own independent HR Consultancy offering customised services to businesses to assist in dealing with people/employment issues. Her clients have ranged from small entrepreneurs to plcs and in the public/not for profit sector within the Civil Service, Local Government, Housing Associations and well known voluntary organisations. She has operated in diverse businesses in both the public and private sectors.
An HR Generalist, Gill's wide experience covers both practical and strategic aspects of Human Resources involving change management and organisational issues. She advises on disciplinary matters and dismissals and is available to mediate in disputes or as an independent professional to hear disciplinary or grievance appeals. Whenever possible, her aim is to prevent problems developing rather than providing the solution at a later date. Gill undertakes Organisational Reviews and ad hoc projects as required. Gill can also be appointed as an independent investigator and her experience includes dealing with cases of bullying, harassment and sexual harassment.
Gill's other specialisation is as a business coach and mentor. She has extensive experience in career coaching and development, providing both courses and one-to-one consultations. As one of the UK's first qualified Retirement Coaches, she specialises in coaching for retirement planning. Other coach training has covered Life and Executive Coaching; Business Growth Coaching and most recently Confidence Coaching. She is also an accomplished facilitator.
Throughout her career, Gill has invested in her own training and development and is committed to ongoing personal development. She maintains up to date knowledge of employment law and developments in HR and Training thus meeting the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) standards of both the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and the Institute of Business Consulting (previously Institute of Management Consultancy).
She is an active member of the Richmond Group a consortium of professionally qualified Management Consultants and City Women's Network, a professional business women's networking organisation. In 2003 Gill was appointed as a Board Member for Pathmeads Housing Association (part of the Genesis Group). She is a Freeman of the City of London and an active member of the Worshipful Company of Management Consultants. In 2008 Gill was appointed as an Assessor for the CMC professional qualification awarded by the Institute of Business Consulting.
